Kavalos, Emmanuel, 71, of Meriden, husband of Carmen (Rivera) Kavalos, passed away Monday, May 10, 2016 at his daughter’s home in Bristol. Born on April 23, 1945 in Greece, he was a son of the late Vasilios and Kaliope (Parasiris) Kavalos. Emmanuel was a skilled, self-employed carpenter for his entire life. He was a member of the Kretan Association Minos for many years. Emmanuel was a very devoted Husband and father, and was a caring friend to everyone who knew him. Besides his wife Carmen, Emmanuel leaves his son and daughter-in-law Gregory E. and Courtney Kavalos of Mercer, PA; a daughter and son-in-law Kaliopi Kavalos and her husband Luis Soares of Bristol, CT; five brothers Grigorios of New York, Mihalis, Alex, Argiris, and Paul, all of Greece; five sisters Elefteria Zervos, Despina Mavroyiani, Androniki Mavroyiani, Ermioni Zapountzis, and Maria Pavlakis, all of Greece; three grandchildren Alexander Soares, Evan Kavalos, and Bradley Soares, and several nieces and nephews. Emmanuel was predeceased by his brother Anthony Kavalos. A funeral mass, officiated by Father Ignatios Achlioptas, will be held Saturday, May 14 at 10:30am at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 31 Brightwood Rd., Bristol. Burial will follow in Peacedale Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday evening from 4-7pm at DuPont Funeral Home, 25 Bellevue Ave., Bristol.
